- Name of Service: Consultancy firm to conduct a technical analysis of unexploded ordnance in the Lao PDR.Duty Station: Laos.Project: Supporting Effectiveness and Efficiency in the UXO Sector to contribute to the achievement of SDG 18 and Safe Path Forward III (SPF III).Objective: The objective of theconsultancy is to investigate the condition and operational status of two of the most frequently found unexploded submunitions in Lao PDR.Scope of WorkThe successful firm will be expected to be responsible for the following:Undertake a physical analysis of a statistically relevant sample of sub-munitions. Working closely with an accredited UXO operator in Lao PDR, undertake the following: Task 1: Prepare in advance of field mission. . Liaise with NRA and UNDP to obtain all relevant permissions. Liaise with NRA, UNDP, UXO operator to agree on sub-munitions for exploitation. Liaisewith UXO operator to organize logistics, site selection, transportation etc. Task 2: Undertake exploratory work in the field . Undertake disassembly of selected munitions to:o Identify reasons for failureo Assess the functionality of initiation mechanisms.o Test the viability ofenergetic materials. Task 3: Complete a full report and make a presentation to NRA, UNDP, UXO Operators.. Submit a draft report for review.. Amend report further to feedback. Submit final report.
